How will we pay for home care?

It may surprise you to learn that home care can be a more affordable option than care in a nursing home or other institution. We can help answer your financial and insurance questions. There are several financial options available to help pay for home care. These include:

  • Medicare – If a senior is considered homebound, meaning they cannot leave their home without significant help, Medicare will help cover the entire costs of home care episode. We work closely with your physician to determine the specific needs and amount of care you will receive.
  • Certain private health insurance – Many health insurance plans will help cover certain home care services for those with a demonstrated need.
  • Long Term Care insurance – This type of insurance can help offset the cost of care at home, especially for those who plan ahead. Preexisting conditions may not be covered, so you’ll need to read each policy carefully.  If your loved one has the option to purchase long-term care insurance when they are relatively young and healthy, it can really help defray care costs later on.
